Kenny Despot

Kenny was born and raised in Bakersfield, Ca. He married his high school sweetheart in the fall of 2015. He began working in the supply industry in 2011, with Bakersfield Pipe and Supply, specializing in oil and gas pipe, valves and fittings. In his spare time, he enjoys offshore fishing with family and friends. Kenny accepted an inside sales position at R&B in September of 2016 and is excited to continue to service Bakersfield and the surrounding area.

They have one daughter and she spends most of her time with her family and enjoying the outdoors. Taylor spent nearly a decade as a cosmetologist. Wanting a change of pace, she worked as a customer service manager for a wholesale distributor where she spent a few years learning all she could about day to day operations and customer service. Taylor joined the R&B team in early 2018.

Jenny was born in Santa Paula CA, and raised in Oak View CA. She has been around waterworks her whole life, her mom worked for Westburne and Famillian, she would always be running around the warehouse with her Mom. Jenny has been in the industry since 2001, she started out at Groeniger & Company in Santa Paula, right out of High School as a receptionist then moved her way up to Office Manager/Purchasing Agent. When the crash hit in 2008 she tried different lines of business, but nothing was the same as being in the waterworks industry. She found herself relocating to Bakersfield, CA where she started working at HD Supply as Inside sales and moved up to Operations Manager. Jenny joined the R&B family in September of 2017.

Michael was born and raised in Kern County. He enjoys hiking, going on adventures and being out with nature. He started off with doing AutoCAD in 2003, drawing land development plans. In 2008 Michael was hired on with Lortz Manufacturing to do takeoffs and estimates for oilfield pipelines and pressure vessels. He has had a few jobs through the years drawing plans, doing takeoffs and estimating. In 2018 Michael joined the R&B team doing estimating and sales. He is happy to be a part of the R&B team and looks forward to settling down and growing here.

He was eventually promoted to superintendent and he assisted in everyday operations and scheduling for daily construction jobs. He is married and has two kids, a son, and daughter. Marco joined R&B Company in 2018 as an inside sales representative at our Bakersfield Branch.

Kevin started in the industry with Bill Nelson Construction in 2007 as a pipe layer and worked his way into the office becoming the Senior Estimator and Project Supervisor in 2008. He joined R & B Company in August of 2014 in an Inside Sales and Estimator position at the Fresno Branch. He transferred to the Bakersfield branch and accepted the District Manager position when it opened in March 2015.

Mandy was born in San Francisco and moved to Clovis when she was 15 months old. Mandy started working when she was 15 for her dad at Groeniger and Company Plant Division and was there for 7 years before they closed. After that she went into aviation as a Customer Service Rep for Signature Flight Support handling services for privately owned aircraft, crew members and passengers, then moved into the private charter of aviation for a few years. Mandy loves spending her days off camping, fishing, hanging out with friends and family or curling up on the couch with a book. When she heard there was an opening at R&B, she was excited to join and get back into the water works industry.

Brad was born and raised in Arkansas then later moved to Tennessee . He and his wife have two kids. He started his waterworks career in Oakland Park, Florida for National waterworks in 1999. Starting as a warehouse worker, later becoming the warehouse manager. He then transferred to Santa Clara, California in 2003 as a CSR. Working for several years for HD Supply he then moved back to Tennessee in 2011 to become a Police Officer for the City. After a short time as an Officer, decided to move back to Fresno and get back into the waterworks industry in April 2012 joining R & B. Brad has over 10 years experience in the waterworks industry.

He instantly had a passion for the waterworks industry. Hunter set a state record in varsity football for most Sacs in a single game in 2015, and graduated from Sierra Pacific High School in 2016. Hunter immediately went to work full time as an inside sales person after graduation, and dedicated himself to learning and growing with R&B. Rick is thrilled to be a part of R&B Company! He is a Bay Area native, born and raised in Fremont, California. Rick’s experience in the industry spans 35+ years, learning from his grandfather and father through the family waterworks business, Groeniger & Company, founded in 1949. It was here that Rick gained his strong knowledge of product, sales, and established his value of customer/vendor relationships. After selling their business in 2011 to Ferguson Enterprises, Rick continued his work as Branch Manager for their Hayward location, until joining R&B in January 2018. Rick currently resides in Livermore with his family. He and his wife, Alecia, married in 1993 and have two children, Garren and Grace. Rick has a long standing passion for automobiles, especially those that are vintage. During his spare time, he can often be found working under the hood of an old car, although he prefers to be racing one! He also enjoys watching sports, traveling, and spending time with his family and friends.

Born and raised in Southern California, Scott first started in the Water Works business back in the summer of 1973 with Groeniger and Company in Oakland, Ca. He continued working the next several summers after Groeniger moved to Hayward in 1975. After attending Utah State University he returned to the Bay area and started his career on a full time basis with Groeniger in 1985. He held many roles with the company starting as many in the industry do in the warehouse and eventual settled into sales. Over the years he held warehouse, sales and branch manager titles. Groeniger and Company was acquired by Ferguson Water Works in 2011 and Scott continued to work for Ferguson in their hayward branch until joining the R&B team in August of 2018. Scott and his wife of 5 years, Kathleen, call Castro Valley home. They’re parents to 4 boys and a girl, and grandparents to 2 grandsons and 2 granddaughters. They enjoy trips to the wine country, socializing with friends and spoiling the grandkids. Asked how he felt after only seven days on the job he responded, “It feels like home”.

Bryan is a native Californian, born in Inglewood. He spent four years in the US Navy working in avionics, specializing in Electronics Counter Measures (ECM). He left Amdahl in 1985 and founded Enable Networks that designed, implemented and maintained computer networks. Bryan takes pride in having computerized Silicon Valley Bank and consulted for other Bay Area companies including Intel, Sony, Xerox and others. R&B has been one of Bryan’s favorite clients for 20+ years. Due to the growth of R&B, it made sense for Bryan to come on board full time in 2016. Mae was born in Santa Clara but was raised in Milpitas. She graduated from UC Santa Cruz in 2017 with her bachelor’s degree in Business Management Economics with an emphasis in Accounting. She joined R&B in May 2018.

Shelley was born in Santa Clara, but grew up in the small town of Wheatland, CA. She began working in the beauty industry in 2007 as an Esthetician/ Makeup artist. She still enjoys being a makeup artist on the weekends providing glamour, face painting and special effects looks. She joined U.S Pipe Fabrications in 2012 were she worked in customer service and inside sales for the past 6 years. She moved back to San Jose and joined the R&B family in March of 2018.

Irvin was born in San Diego, he moved around California till he settled in Richmond for 15 years. He started in R&B’s warehouse in 2012 and worked his way up, he went from stock boy and to shipping and receiving. He was sent to Oklahoma for McElroy for fusion training and inspectors cores. In 2015 he became a sales member of the R&B Fusion department.

Izzy was born in Mexico City. At the age of ten, he moved to the U.S and was raised in San Jose, California. Izzy graduated from willow glen high school and began working in the restaurant industry. He decided to switch career paths and joined R&B in 2014 as a member of the San Jose warehouse crew. Shortly after he became a Class A driver and is now part of the inventory control department. Collin lives in Rocklin, CA with his wife (Karyn), two young children (Finley and Leif), and his wife’s feral and blind cat (Lyell). He was born and raised in Humboldt County and was the first pick taken in the 1992 Fortuna Little League draft. He is a 2002 graduate of THE Chico State University. He began his waterworks career with US Pipe and Foundry in 2013. Collin’s greatest personal accomplishment (besides being a slightly above-average husband and father) is a through hike of the John Muir Trail in 2012. He enjoys the solitude of the outdoors, cycling, watching YouTube highlights of Will Clark (why is he not in the Hall of Fame?) and anything made in his Instant Pot. Collin joined the R&B Company in October 2018.

Jim was born in Michigan but moved around a lot during his early years. He was in the Navy from 1970-1974, after which he started working at Groeniger & Company. In 1985 he moved to Kenko Utility Supply and in 2011 he moved to Ferguson Water Works. In November of 2018, Jim joined the R&B team at our Oakley branch. He has 2 daughters and 6 grandchildren, he is expecting his first great-grandson in July.

Prescott & Sons, Inc. in West Boylson, MA remaining with them until June 2018. In July of 2018, Hal and his beautiful wife Sharon, his two daughters, Sabrina and Alyssa and stepson Daleth moved to Angwin, CA. He loves pretty much anything and everything outdoors and is an avid bow hunter and sportsman. He joined the R&B family in July 2018 as an Outside Sales Rep. at our Santa Rosa branch.
